Wow, I really love this. Maybe it might be "cliched" and perhaps been seen somewhere in some shape or form before but I don't care. I still LOVE it. It has such a nice composition of white and black balance. And is that the same person on both sides? If it were, it'd be even cooler. And I'm glad you left out the nipple. It'd be too distracting and that's the only thing chauvanistic pigs would comment about.

I'm not sure how someone can address an issue like this, without the image being at least a little bit cliche. I think the problem lies in the adoption and reconstruction, by popular media, of the very idea of protest into a redundant sixties joke. well, personally, I think war is cliche, it's been done to death, technology hasn't made it any more interesting, in fact it's made it less interesting. I mean, explosions? Come on, that's so bloody boring, find a more interesting way to decimate whole populations of people and swallow a nations wealth. And green camo prints are so nineteen ninety five.
I like the polarity of black and white in this image, the scarce lighting on the left and the strong glow on the right are both ways of playing with a picture that seems, from a lot of your work, you have a great skill with. I can see how the uncropped version would be even more interesting, as bared breasts not only alludes to a kind of c.1960s protest era idea, with the flowers on the light side, but also a very old way of showing strength in the vulnerable that was used a lot in french paintings of the revolution. But I wouldn't expose mine here either, good call...
